Leading legal partnership selects Dacoll for a critical Business Continuity implementation. Dacoll reviewed and implemented the BC/ DR plan through VM Site Recovery Manager to secure the data across three primary sites across Scotland.

The estate includes some 30 Virtual servers running on IBM hardware supported by NetApp storage

The virtualised environment allows for the introduction of a product from VMware called Site Recovery Manager (SRM), which automates the failover and recovery process, and crucially allows for test plan cycles. This means that the failover process is run as if live although in an isolated environment so that it does not impact the live production environment at all.

The significance of this is the reassurance that should the DR plan be put into operation that it is a known quantity and that it is proven to work. It does not remove the requirement to plan the DR but does allow for it to be tested, and largely automated, and of course modified over time as requirements change.
